Data Collection
What Data We Collect
Fox Macro Recorder collects and stores the following data locally on your device only:
- Click Recording Data:
- Mouse click coordinates (x, y positions)
- Timestamps of clicks
- Element selectors where clicks occurred
- Macro names you create
What We DO NOT Collect
- Personal identifying information
- Browsing history
- Website content
- Passwords or sensitive form data
- Analytics or usage statistics
- Any data from websites you visit
Data Storage
- Local Storage Only: All recorded macros are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage using Chrome's
chrome.storage.localAPI - No Cloud Storage: We do not store, sync, or backup your data to any external servers
- No Transmission: Your data never leaves your browser
- User Control: You have complete control to delete your macros at any time
Data Usage
The data collected is used solely for:
- Saving your recorded click sequences as macros
- Playing back saved macros when you request it
- Managing your macro library within the extension
We do not:
- Analyze your data
- Share your data with third parties
- Sell your data
- Use your data for advertising
- Transmit your data over the network
Permissions Explained
Storage Permission
Required to save your recorded macros locally in your browser. Without this permission, the extension cannot function.
Active Tab and Scripting Permissions
Required to record and replay clicks on a website you choose. When you click the extension icon, the recorder panel is added to that tab only. The extension:
- Has no access to any website until you open the panel there
- Does not collect or transmit any website data
Third-Party Services
Fox Macro Recorder does not:
- Use any third-party analytics services
- Connect to any external APIs
- Include any tracking codes
- Load any external scripts or resources
Data Security
- All data remains on your local device
- No network transmission means no interception risk
- Your macros are as secure as your browser's local storage
- You can export/import macros as JSON files for personal backup (Settings → Macros); the file is saved where you choose and never uploaded
User Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: View all your saved macros within the extension
- Delete: Remove any or all macros at any time
- Export: Download your macros as JSON files
- Control: The extension is entirely under your control
Children's Privacy
Fox Macro Recorder does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The extension is designed for general productivity use and does not target children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Data Deletion
To delete your data:
- Open the Fox Macro Recorder panel
- Click "Delete" on individual macros, or
- Uninstall the extension to remove all data
Your data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
